Silpakorn University

Silpakorn University (Thai: มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร) is a university located in Thailand. The university was founded in 1943. It is named after the Italian born sculptor Silpa Bhirasri, and is the leading Thai university in the fine arts. It has about 7,000 students.
The university has several campus:
- Thapra Palace, Bangkok
- Sanam Chan Palace, Nakhon Pathom
- Phetchaburi
History
In 1939 the Praneat Silpakam School was founded by Mom Luang Pin Malagula. Four years later it was promoted to a university. In 1968 the Thai Education Ministry granted a proposal to extend the university, which led to the establishment of the Sanam Chan campus in Nakhon Pathom.
