Shurikenjutsu

Shurikenjutsu (手裏剣術) is a Japanese martial art of throwing shuriken, knives and dirks. Shurikenjutsu is a koryu form.
This is not a very popular art as its use is severely limited. Since the point is to throw the shuriken so it will stab the opponent, modern day practitioners are not likely to have a chance to test it on a real opponent. Some styles of shurikenjutsu that are still practiced today are Negishi ryū and Meifu Shinkage ryū.
In Takeda Ryu, Surikenjutsu, the art of throwing spikes, is very strongly combined to the swordsmanship which means that Shuriken hardly have been used as a weapon in its own. It was mostly used to confuse the opponent in order to prepare a more efficient attack by sword. That is the reason why a lot of the exercises are executed at short distance. Template:Ma-stub
