According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 38.9 km² (15.0 mi²). 37.6 km² (14.5 mi²) of it is land and 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.26% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 29,845 people, 9,960 households, and 8,187 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 793.6/km² (2,055.1/mi²). There are 10,177 housing units at an average density of 270.6/km² (700.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 73.97% White, 10.54% African American, 0.81% Native American, 3.06% Asian, 0.56% Pacific Islander, 5.35% from other races, and 5.71% from two or more races. 12.61% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 9,960 households out of which 43.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.5% are married couples living together, 11.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 17.8% are non-families. 14.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.99 and the average family size is 3.28.
