Secretary is a town located in Dorchester County, Maryland. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 503.

The racial makeup of the town is 97.22% White, 0.60% African American, 0.20% Native American, 0.80% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.99% from other races, and 0.20% from two or more races. 3.98% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 197 households out of which 33.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.4% are married couples living together, 13.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.4% are non-families. 20.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
