Schwarz Stein is a Japanese visual kei techno band which operated from about 2000 to 2004. It consisted of two members: Kaya (ex-ISOLA) and Hora (ex-Velvet Eden), who worked together under the name Rudolf Steiner, and when the band was signed by Mana's indie label Midi:Nette, they changed their name to Schwarz Stein (supposedly meaning "black stone" in German, but that would be "Schwarzer Stein"). Prior to their name change, they released two demo tapes (Queen of Decadence and Perfect Garden), and a new version of Perfect Garden was released as their debut Midi:Nette single. They went on to release the album New Vogue Children in June 2003, the single Current in November of the same year, and their last album Artificial Hallucination in February 2004. They opened for Mana's solo project Moi Dix Mois a few times and played in several multiple-band shows as well as making several solo appearances. After their last performance on March 29th 2004, Schwarz Stein officially disbanded due to creative differences. Kaya and Hora have both stated they will continue to pursue careers in music. They briefly reunited for the Dis Inferno III ~LAST YEAR PARTY~ event on December 15th 2004, hosted by their former label Midi:Nette. Hora has recently announced his new solo project 'GOD SYNTHESIS', but there's no word yet of future plans for Kaya.
