Scandal (1989) is a dramatic movie starring Joanne Whalley and John Hurt, written by Michael Thomas and directed by Michael Caton-Jones. The cast also includes Ian McKellen, Britt Ekland, and Bridget Fonda. The movie is based on the Profumo affair, a real-life scandal which in 1963 rocked the administration of UK Prime Minister Harold Macmillan, and may have been a contributory factor in the defeat of the ruling Conservative Party at the following year's general election.
