Saqlain Mushtaq

Saqlain Mushtaq (born December 29, 1976) is a Pakistani cricketer and member of the Pakistani cricket team since 1995. He was born in Lahore, Punjab. He made his international debut against Sri Lanka at Peshawar. His bowling style is off spin. He has taken over 200 Test wickets. His ODI figures are 288 wickets at an average of 21.78. He last played Test cricket for Pakistan against India at Multan, in 2004. He has taken over 500 first class wickets.
Saqlain can turn the ball, however it is his variation that has raised eyebrows. He has an effective arm ball and has been credited with inventing the 'doosra'.
Unsuccessful performance at Multan opened up the can of worms for Saqlain. He has not only been consistently ignored by the selectors since then but has also faced some fitness problems. After exclusion from Pakistan international team he started playing county cricket where he later got serious knee injuries. He underwent surgical operations on both his knees in November 2004.
Most crictics and observers are predicting a tragic end to a world class off spinner. Saqlain Mushtaq is surely down but still not out yet.
