Santander is a department of Colombia. Santander is one of the nine original states of the United States of Colombia. It is in the central northern part of the country, bordered on the west by the Magdalena River, to the south and east by Boyacá, and to the north by Norte de Santander. The capital is Bucaramanga.
Postage stamps
Like the other states, Santander issued its own postage stamps between 1884 and 1905, with a provisional stamp appearing in 1907. The designs were based on the state's coat of arms, except for a 50c stamp in 1904 featuring a locomotive. All of the stamps of Santander are commonly available.
