Santa Clara is a city located in Washington County, Utah. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 4,630.

Geography

Santa Clara is located at 37°8'13" North, 113°38'57" West (37.136937, -113.649168)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 12.7 km² (4.9 mi²). 12.6 km² (4.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.41% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 4,630 people, 1,225 households, and 1,134 families residing in the city. The population density is 366.3/km² (948.1/mi²). There are 1,294 housing units at an average density of 102.4/km² (265.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 97.32% White, 0.15% African American, 0.30% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.32% Pacific Islander, 0.48% from other races, and 1.14% from two or more races. 2.03% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 1,225 households out of which 57.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 86.0% are married couples living together, 4.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 7.4% are non-families. 6.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.78 and the average family size is 3.96.

In the city the population is spread out with 40.2% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 23.7% from 25 to 44, 17.3% from 45 to 64, and 9.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 26 years. For every 100 females there are 105.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 101.8 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $52,770, and the median income for a family is $55,000. Males have a median income of $41,350 versus $21,495 for females. The per capita income for the city is $15,957. 3.5% of the population and 2.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.1% of those under the age of 18 and 2.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
