San Ignacio is a census-designated place located in Zapata County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 853.
Geography
San Ignacio is located at 27°2'38" North, 99°26'23" West (27.043938, -99.439726)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.0 km² (1.5 mi²). 4.0 km² (1.5 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 853 people, 253 households, and 198 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 215.3/km² (556.7/mi²). There are 355 housing units at an average density of 89.6/km² (231.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 79.13% White, 1.17% African American, 0.35% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 17.35% from other races, and 1.99% from two or more races. 92.97% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 253 households out of which 44.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.9% are married couples living together, 15.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.7% are non-families. 20.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.37 and the average family size is 3.97.
