Sam Farr (born July 4 1941), American politician, has been a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 1993, representing the 17th District of California (map (http://nationalatlas.gov/printable/images/preview/congdist/ca17_109.gif)). He was born in San Francisco, California, was educated at Willamette University, Santa Clara University, and the Monterey Institute of International Studies, served in the Peace Corps, and was a staff member of the California Assembly, a member of the Monterey County Board of Supervisors, and a member of the California Assembly before entering the House.
