Sally Gerber

Sally Gerber (born 1927) is a native of Fremont, Michigan.
Sally, the daughter of Daniel Frank Gerber, a food canning company owner, was a sick child as a baby. When she was seven months old, her doctor recommended a diet based on fruits and vegetables only. Her mom would cook her foods specially made for her. Eventually, her father Frank caught up with the idea that there was a market for baby foods, this led to him creating Gerber Products Company and starting what is nowadays an empire in the baby products industry.
Some say Sally is the famous Gerber baby that appears on the company's product labels. However, the company website (http://www.gerber.com) says the baby is a sketch of Ann Turner Cook drawn by Dorothy Hope Smith.
Sally Gerber took it upon herself to answer each customer's letters when she was barely ten years old, writing an average of 800,000 letters a year since 1938. Later on, she became company president, and kept on answering customer's mails herself.
