Salchans-the people of Salcha
Most people living in nearby communities do not think highly of their Salchan neighbors. The Salchan stereotype is that of a person with questionable hygiene and intelligence. Many could be classified as rednecks. A prime example of what Salcha is like is The Red Green Show. Salchans have the same habits of collecting old junk in their lawns and a love of duct tape. The term 'salchan' is frequently used to describe something that looks junky. For example, repairing an old beater truck with liberal amounts of Duct tape could be described as a salchan fix. The Salchan populace is generally considered to be a scary lot. One Salchan once said that nobody would dare try to take an unlocked vehicle in Salcha because its owner is likely in the bushes with a shotgun. This particular Salchan carries around a fork in his coat pocket for protection. There are two main groups of Salchans. The 'upper' Salchans, those that live further north towards the more populated cities of North Pole and Fairbanks. These are generally considered to be more sane and sophisticated. The other group is the 'deep' Salchans. These tend to be very scary people. They are responsible for the Salchan stereotype.
