St. Anthony, also known as Saint Anthony Village, is a city located in Hennepin County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 8,012. A small part of the city, with about 2,000 residents extends into Ramsey County.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.1 km² (2.4 mi²). 5.9 km² (2.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.80% water.
One of the longest and most widely used streets in the city is Silver Lake Road.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 8,012 people, 3,697 households, and 2,007 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,356.8/km² (3,513.8/mi²). There are 3,812 housing units at an average density of 645.5/km² (1,671.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 90.58% White, 2.06% African American, 0.64% Native American, 4.51% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.79% from other races, and 1.41% from two or more races. 1.65% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 3,697 households out of which 20.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.7% are married couples living together, 7.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 45.7% are non-families. 38.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 18.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.11 and the average family size is 2.83.
In the city the population is spread out with 18.0% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 26.2% from 25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 25.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 43 years. For every 100 females there are 85.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 79.5 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $46,883, and the median income for a family is $62,500. Males have a median income of $43,043 versus $31,304 for females. The per capita income for the city is $26,290. 5.1% of the population and 2.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 5.0% of those under the age of 18 and 3.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
