Template:Infobox University1 Sabanci University (SU) is one of the most important universities in Turkey today. The motto of Sabanci University is "creating and developing together." With only 2420 students, the university has the highest scholarship rate among private universities in Turkey.

Sabanci University is located in Tuzla-Istanbul. Although it is far from downtown Istanbul, Sabancı University provides shuttle bus services from two locations in the city to campus: Kadıköy and Taksim.

84% of full-time faculty members obtained doctoral degrees abroad. Turkish academics who previously taught overseas constitute almost half of this amount.

Alumni

Since 2000, Sabanci University has conferred 641 graduate and undergraduate degrees in total. Currently its alumni continue graduate education and receive fellowships for doctoral study and research, primarily in well known US universities such as Boston University, California Institute of Technology, Cambridge University, City University of New York, Carnegie Mellon University, George Mason University, University of Hamburg, and University of Chicago.

The alumni who preferred to enter the business world have been recruited by the most reputable national and international companies like Ak Enerji, Akbank, Citibank, Coca-Cola, Deloitte Touche, Dow, and Dupont-Türkiye.

Civic Involvement Projects

Civic Involvement Projects (CIP) foster an awareness of the individual's role in society by encouraging involvement in civic and community organizations through a platform for participatory democracy. Through such involvement the programs aims to broaden the individual's social and cultural perspective while providing hands-on learning for basic managerial and team skills.

Civic Involvement Projects are organized in association with 30 NGOs and 3 public social service organizations.

All students that are required to participate in CIP during the first year of enrollment at Sabanci University work in teams of five to ten students.

There are 40 ongoing Civic Involvement Projects.

Student Activities

Students have established the democratically run student council which, as a campus problem-solver and mediator, contributes to the University's development as an institution.

The student-centered nature of all university clubs (currently 41), combined with the diversity of extra-curricular activities, improve the quality of social and cultural life on campus.

History

Sabanci University was established in July 1994 by the Sabanci Group under the supervision one of Turkey's leading family-run foundations, the Haci Omer Foundation (VAKSA).

The ceremony for the Sabanci University campus took place on July 31, 1997. The University began its first academic year on October 20, 1999.
