SKF

SKF, Svenska Kullagerfabriken AB, later AB SKF, is a Swedish company founded in 1907. It manufactures roller ball bearings.
The business founded on Sven Wingquist's 1907 patent was successful from early on, and by 1910 the company had 325 employees, a daughter-company in the USA and was established in several countries. In 1912 SKF was represented in 32 countries. By 1930, 21,000 employees, two thirds outside Sweden, were working in 12 factories. SKF was the mother company of Volvo which was made a separate company in 1935.
Today, the company has about 40 000 employees world-wide. Year 2001 turnover was 43 038 MSEK. The SKF Group now consists of about 150 companies. Since the start, company headquarters have been located in Gothenburg.
