Rustboro City, known as Kanazumi City (カナズミシティ Kanazumi Shiti) in the original Japanese version, is a place in the fictional world of Pokémon.
Rustboro is just north of Petalburg Woods and Route 104. The first gym leader, Roxanne, lives here as a teacher. Also, the player needs to complete the Mr. Briney sidequest if he or she wants to get to the next town.

Places of interest
Cutter's House
The player should go to the Cutter's House, where a man upstairs will give him or her HM01, Cut.
Pokémon Trainer's School
If the player goes to the Pokemon Trainer's school, the old man will give him or her Quick Claw.
Devon Corporation
If the player goes to the Devon Corporation after he or she obtained the Devon Goods and talks to the President on the top floor, he or she can receive a Pokénav. After one has obtained a Root or Claw Fossil from the desert later in the game, one may give it to a scientist on the second floor to receive a Lileep or Anorith, which evolve into Cradily and Armaldo, respectively, two very good Pokémon.
Gym
The first Pokémon Gym is here, and the leader, Roxanne, has Rock Pokémon, including a Nosepass. Although a Marshtomp is useful here, a Combusken (the evolved form of Torchic) is also good because it is more useful against the later, harder Gym Leaders.

Rustboro City in the animé
- Rustboro City is quite a large City, and is also on the coast. On the outskirts of the City, there is a Pokémon Contest hall. This is where May is inspired to become a Pokémon Co-ordinator, rather than battling in Gyms. Pikachu also begins to learn Iron Tail here.
- When they arrive at Rustboro City, Max enrolls in a begginers course in the Pokémon Trainer's School, which is taught by Roxanne, (who is a teacher and doesn't run the school.) The next day, Ash battles Roxanne and wins a Stone Badge.
- The group then explores the larger areas of the City, and meet Team Aqua for the first time, who they defeat at the Devon Corporation. They escape, however, and steal Captain Briney's boat. Captain Briney later takes them to Dewford Island.
