According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.9 km² (4.6 mi²). 11.1 km² (4.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 6.32% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 6,406 people, 2,610 households, and 1,743 families residing in the city. The population density is 575.2/km² (1,489.7/mi²). There are 2,736 housing units at an average density of 245.7/km² (636.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 96.27% White, 1.28% African American, 0.20% Native American, 0.81% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.48% from other races, and 0.94% from two or more races. 1.69% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,610 households out of which 32.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.4% are married couples living together, 10.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% are non-families. 28.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.45 and the average family size is 3.04.
In the city the population is spread out with 25.4% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 13.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 92.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.7 males.

Rossford High School's sports teams are known as the "Bulldogs", and they participate in the Northern Lakes League (NLL). The school colors are maroon and gray.
Rossford Junior High's sports teams are also called the "Bulldogs", and they participate in the Northern Lakes Junior High Middle School League (NLJHMSL). Their school colors are maroon and gray as well.
