Roberto Prats Palerm (born 1966) is a Senator of Puerto Rico, a lawyer, and an unsuccessful candidate for Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico in the elections of 2004. He is affiliated with the Popular Democratic Party.

Education
Prats received his Bachelor's Degree in Public Political Analysis and Economics from Cornell University in 1990. He began studying law in Georgetown University but received the degree from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, School of Law.
Political career
Prats began working in his early twenties with the government of Puerto Rico. He worked closely with Sila M. Calderón, then Mayor of San Juan, being the city's Publicity Coordinator and Federal Relationships Chairman.
In the elections of 2000, Prats was elected Senator, becoming the youngest member of the Puerto Rican Senate. During his tenure, Prats has pushed legislation that has sought to help people of low income.
In 2003, Sila M. Calderón announced she would not seek a second term as Governor. The Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico, Aníbal Acevedo Vilá was chosen to run for Governor in the elections of 2004. Senator Roberto Prats then was announced as candidate for Resident Commissioner for the upcoming elections.
Prats got a big boost for his campaign, when the Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe endorsed him in March of 2004.
In the General Elections of 2004, Prats was defeated by Luis Fortuño of the New Progressive Party.
