Robert Gurth Hughes (born July 14, 1951) is a British Conservative politician.
He was the Conservative candidate in the Bermondsey byelection and contested the seat of Southwark and Bermondsey in the 1983 General Election, being in third place both times. In 1987 he was elected MP for Harrow West. He successfully defended this seat in 1992, but in 1997 lost it by 1,240 votes to Gareth Thomas.
He opposed the Conservative party line by supporting a total ban on handguns in the wake of the Dunblane Massacre.
