According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.5 km² (0.6 mi²). 1.5 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is land and 1.75% is water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,453 people, 781 households, and 623 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 1,691.3/km² (4,354.6/mi²). There are 862 housing units at an average density of 594.3/km² (1,530.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 16.23% White, 80.64% African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.98% from other races, and 1.92% from two or more races. 3.18% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 781 households out of which 39.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 32.5% are married couples living together, 41.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.2% are non-families. 15.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.13 and the average family size is 3.51.
