Geography
Red River is located at 36°42'23" North, 105°24'19" West (36.706311, -105.405271)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²). 2.6 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 484 people, 234 households, and 138 families residing in the town. The population density is 183.2/km² White, 0.00% Black or African American, 1.03% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 3.72% from other races, and 2.69% from two or more races. 9.30% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 234 households out of which 20.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.6% are married couples living together, 5.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 40.6% are non-families. 32.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.07 and the average family size is 2.60.(474.9/mi²). There are 880 housing units at an average density of 333.1/km² (863.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 92.56%

Economy
The main industry in Red River is tourism. Red River sits at the base of the Red River Ski Area, located 8750 feet above sea level in the southern Rocky Mountains. Winter activities include skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling. In Summertime, visitors can hike, bike, fish, golf and ride horseback in the mountains.
