It was formed in 2002, mostly by members of the right-wing sector of the Radical Civic Union, headed by Ricardo López Murphy, which was the party´s presidential candidate in the 2003 elections, ending third place with 18%.
In 2005 the party formed an alliance with Buenos Aires´s party Commitment for Change (Compromiso para el Cambio). The new alliance is battling to form a wide range right-wing front, specially with Neuquén´s party, Neuquén´s Popular Movement (Movimiento Popular Neuquino), heading for the 2005 parliamentary elections.
