Plot
The film is a black comedy mainly about cannibalism. Set during the Mexican-American War in 1847 a cowardly soldier is promoted to Captain and moved to the remote Fort Spencer. Soon a stranger named Colquhuon arrives and tells tales of his party leader eating members of their entourage. The soldiers stationed at the fort see it as their duty to investigate these happenings and see if any others have survived, but soon it is revealed that Colquhoun himself was the cannibal.
The Native American myth of Wendigo features heavily in this film, showing that the consumption of human flesh gives healing powers. The plot might be loosely based on the true story of Alferd Packer.
