Geography
The district includes the south coast of the island of Newfoundland, the Stephenville area, the Burin Peninsula, and the west-central coast of Trinity Bay including Random Island. Communities include Stephenville, Marystown, Channel-Port aux Basques, Clarenville, Grand Bank, Burin, Harbour Breton, Burgeo, Fortune and Stephenville Crossing. The area is 38,281 sq. km.
History
The electoral district was created in 2003 87.1% from Burin—St. George's, 12.9% from Bonavista—Trinity—Conception, and 0.1% from Humber—St. Barbe—Baie Verte. The incumbent for the majority of the riding is Bill Matthews of the Liberal Party of Canada.
