Randolph is a town located in Norfolk County, Massachusetts. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 30,963.
Geography
Randolph is located at 42°10'24" North, 71°2'56" West (42.173417, -71.049124)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 27.2 km² (10.5 mi²). 26.1 km² (10.1 mi²) of it is land and 1.1 km² (0.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 4.10% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 30,963 people, 11,313 households, and 7,986 families residing in the town. The population density is 1,187.2/km² (3,075.2/mi²). There are 11,533 housing units at an average density of 442.2/km² (1,145.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 62.83% White, 20.85% Black or African American, 0.23% Native American, 10.18% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 2.53% from other races, and 3.35% from two or more races. 3.25% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 11,313 households out of which 31.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.0% are married couples living together, 13.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.4% are non-families. 23.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.71 and the average family size is 3.25.
In the town the population is spread out with 23.3% under the age of 18, 7.2% from 18 to 24, 30.9% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 38 years. For every 100 females there are 91.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 88.0 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $55,255, and the median income for a family is $61,942. Males have a median income of $41,719 versus $32,500 for females. The per capita income for the town is $23,413. 4.1% of the population and 2.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.5% of those under the age of 18 and 5.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
