Ralf Hütter (b. 20 August 1946 in Krefeld, Germany) is the lead singer, keyboardist, and reportedly "bandleader" of Kraftwerk and is usually the one interviewed. His deep, heavily accented baritone voice, often overlooked, helped to set Kraftwerk apart from almost everyone else in the 1970s and still sounds unique. He is also a cyclist. Ralf Hutter was in a terrible cycling accident in 1981, during the recording of the album Computer World. He was in the hospital for one full year and the rest of the band couldn't do anything without him. Karl Bartos says he almost died.
