The Sukhoi Russian Regional Jet (Самолёт Российский Региональный Сухого), or "Sukhoi RRJ," is an airliner in the 60 to 95-seat category.
Major subcontractors include Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Ilyushin, Yakovlev, and PowerJet. Boeing is the project manager and has 50% design authority, and may supply parts. Boeing and SNECMA are providing some level of funding for the project. Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. is negotiating a participatory role. Deliveries are to begin in 2007.
The aircraft will be equipped with two PowerJet SaM146 turbofans.
The RRJ is intended to compete against the EMBRAER E-Jets, the Bombardier/Canadair CRJ-700, and the Fairchild-Dornier 728JET programs.
The three RRJ variants are the RRJ 60, RRJ 75, and RRJ 95.
