Quinten Hann (born June 4, 1977) is an Australian professional snooker player.
Hann is one of the more temperamental players on the circuit, sometimes letting his frustration at poor play get the better of him. He has been known to break off by smashing into the pack of reds.
Hann has been ranked in the top 16 for two seasons. He has reached the quarter-finals of four ranking tournaments.
He missed several ranking events after breaking his wrist and collar bone whilst motorcycle racing in 1999. He also broke his foot in a parachute jump in 2001, and was forced to play shoeless in the UK Championship.
More recently, in the 2004 World championships, he was rebuked for making threatening comments to Andy Hicks when he lost 10–4 to the unseeded outsider.
In the 2005 world championships, he has been unlucky. His cue had got lost after the China Open earlier that year. Hann went on holidays after the China Open. Meanwhile, his cue case was found in China and sent back to London, but as he picked it up two days before the world championships, he found out that the bottom of his cue was missing. He had to borrow someone else's cue, but barely had any time to get used to that cue. He eventually lost his match in the first round, as Peter Ebdon defeated him by 10 frames to 2.
When asked about the defeat to Ebdon, Hann said: "I played poorly, but to be honest, that wasn't because of the cue. I was planning to go out the night before the match, drink a couple of beers. When I found out my cue was missing, a couple of beers became a lot of beers." The fact that the first session was a morning session obviously didn't help.
A couple of years back, Hann was trialed for allegedly raping a woman, while both were intoxicated, but was eventually acquitted.
For years, he has criticised the UK, preferring to commute to tournaments from Australia. However, he has recently relocated to London. There is a feeling that, with a little more discipline and determination, Hann could reach the very top.
However his career could be in tatters if accusations of fixing a China Open match are proven.
