Pylon in the artificial lake of Santa Maria
|
The pylon in the artificial lake of Santa Maria is a 75-metre-high anchor pylon, which stands on 28-metre-high feet of concrete in the waters of the artificial lake in the Swiss canton Graubünden. It is a part of Lukmanier Powerline and is the only pylon in Switzerland (perhaps even the only in Europe) standing in a lake.
This unique pylon was built in 1949 as a normal pylon when the Lukmanier Powerline was built. At the construction of the Santa Maria dam it was replaced in 1957 by the now-existing construction standing on concrete feet to protect the steel construction from the water and at wintertime from ice on the lake. This pylon carries one crossarm for one circuit for 380kV three-phase AC-circuit.
