Projectiology

Projectiology is a term used by advocates of conscientiology, a paranormal theory about the nature of consciousness. According to conscientiologists, projectiology is the study of out-of-body experiences, which form a major part of conscientiologist belief. Its advocates claim that it is a "new science" which goes beyond that which is possible for conventional theories, while its critics dismiss it (and conscientiology itself) as a pseudoscience.
According to conscientiologist theory, the human consciousness has an existence independent of the body. This belief leads to the claim that the consciousness can be separated from the body (an "out-of-body experience"). Projectiology is the label given by conscientiologists to the study of this alleged process. Conscientiologists believe that out-of-body experiences can be used to gather information about the nature of consciousness, and the International Academy of Conscientiology (IAC) describe them as "the conscientiologistīs main research tool".
