Program Manager
|
The Program Manager in the Microsoft Windows 3.x series operating systems gave users a way to configure their desktop computers through a Graphical user interface. The user-friendly GUI replaced the text-based shells of previous operating systems and enabled non-technical users to change settings on their computer without seeking assistance. In later versions of Windows, including Windows 95 and Windows NT, the Program Manager was replaced by Windows Explorer. The Program Manager is still included in the later versions of Microsoft Windows. It can be accessed by navigating to the C:\windows directory\PROGMAN.EXE in Windows 98 or the C:\winnt\system32\PROGMAN.EXE directory in Windows NT or 2000.
