Fairy Prion, P. turtur |
A prion is a petrel (genus Pachyptila) found in Antarctica and nearby islands. Prions grow 20–27 cm long, and have blue-grey plumage with white underparts. The flattened bill has a fringe of strainers. Prions feed on small invertebrates from the sea.
The Antarctic Prion and the Salvin's Prion are usually considered to be races of the Broad-billed Prion.
