Wikipedia Encyclopedia
Presto Studios was a computer game development company of the late 1990s, especially famous for its The Journeyman Project series and its 2001 sequel to Cyan's Myst series, Myst III: Exile.
Presto Studios' was also responsible for developing the third installment of one of the best selling computer game series' of all time, Myst. As successor to the Myst dynasty, Presto Studios was entrusted with the challenge of continuing the legacy created by Cyan, the developer of the first two games.
Other games by Presto included the Star Trek game Star Trek: Hidden Evil.
Sadly, in August of 2002 the company was shut down simply because the games industry is changing and titles are now too expensive to develop.
Employees disbanded and were offered severance packages as well as assistance in finding new jobs.
The company's website (http://www.dmulk.com/presto), which now only consists of a single page, states that, "...the digital magicians at Presto have moved on to explore new opportunities."
