Power Stone is a fully 3D arena fighting game series made by Capcom.
The original Power Stone featured 10 colourful characters:
- Fokker (Falcon)
- Rouge
- WangTang
- Ryoma
- Ayame
- GunRock
- Jack
- Galuda
- Kraken
- Valgas
Play involves selecting a character and then proceeding to battle the other characters, one at a time, in various locales. The fighting was truly 3 dimensional and included the ability to able to pick up and fight with things like tables, chairs, rocks, bombs and other objects. During battle, "Power Stones", resembling gems of different colours, would appear in the arena. If a character collected three Power Stones, they would transform into a more powerful version of themselves. They would then be able to use one of two special attacks. One was generally a massive power attack and the other was a grab or throw type move. The powered-up mode would only last for a short time, during which you could execute the special attack or launch some form of projectile. Each match continues until the life bar of one of the two characters fighting is depleted.
A sequel was created in 2002 called Power Stone 2, which featured most of the original cast as well as several new characters:
- Accel
- Gourmand
- Julia
- Pete
- Mel
- Pride
The sequel featured the same 3-D combat but allowed four players to play simultaneously, in a change from the original two. There were new maps which featured multiple levels within the map. The sequel also featured an entirely new arsenal of weapons including a gatling gun, swords, magic wands, megaphones and umbrellas.
A Power Stone television show based on the video game also aired in Canada on YTV.ja:パワーストーン
