The Portland Linux/Unix Group (PLUG)
(aka the Portland Linux Users Group)
PLUG is a group of Linux enthusiasts in Portland Oregon (USA). The group was started in early 1992 as a venue to discuss and promote Linux.

PLUG's activities include the following:
- Active mailing lists (http://www.pdxlinux.org/mail/) - The group's general list averages between 800 and 1000 messages a month (as of 2004).
- Linux Advanced Topic Talk (http://www.pdxlinux.org/meeting/) - A monthly meeting covering subjects that are considered too technical for average users.
- PLUG's Linux Clinic (http://www.riverdale.k12.or.us/~danh/) - A monthly installfest
- PLUG for Education (http://www.riverdale.k12.or.us/linux/) - A group dedicated to promoting Linux for use in education.

- FreeGeek (http://www.freegeek.org/) - a not for profit community organization that recycles used technology to provide computers, education, Internet access and job skills training to those in need in exchange for community service.
- PersonalTelco - a wireless community project. PersonalTelco is the reason Portland was declared the most Un-wired city in America (http://www.intel.com/pressroom/archive/releases/20030304corp.htm) in 2003.
