Port Royal is a town located in Beaufort County, South Carolina. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 3,950.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 13.4 km² (5.2 mi²). 10.0 km² (3.9 mi²) of it is land and 3.3 km² (1.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 24.95% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 3,950 people, 1,660 households, and 1,010 families residing in the town. The population density is 393.1/km² (1,017.3/mi²). There are 1,792 housing units at an average density of 178.3/km² (461.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 64.18% White, 29.16% African American, 0.46% Native American, 1.70% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 1.92% from other races, and 2.48% from two or more races. 4.28% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,660 households out of which 30.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.6% are married couples living together, 13.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.1% are non-families. 31.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.27 and the average family size is 2.86.
In the town the population is spread out with 22.9% under the age of 18, 14.6% from 18 to 24, 34.2% from 25 to 44, 17.3% from 45 to 64, and 11.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 91.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 89.1 males.
