Port Lions, Alaska

Port Lions is a city located on Kodiak Island in the Kodiak Island Borough, Alaska. As of the 2000 census, the population of the city is 256.
Port Lions was built to house the inhabitants of Ag'waneq from the neighboring island of Afognak after their village was destroyed by the Alaska Earthquake in 1964. Port Lions was built with help from the United States government and the Lions Club. It was named in honor of the club.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 26.1 km² (10.1 mi²). 16.4 km² (6.3 mi²) of it is land and 9.6 km² (3.7 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 36.98% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 256 people, 89 households, and 76 families residing in the city. The population density is 15.6/km² (40.3/mi²). There are 106 housing units at an average density of 6.4/km² (16.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 34.77% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 63.28% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 1.95% from two or more races. 1.95% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 89 households out of which 44.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.2% are married couples living together, 7.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 14.6% are non-families. 13.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.88 and the average family size is 3.11.
In the city the population is spread out with 33.2% under the age of 18, 3.9% from 18 to 24, 29.7% from 25 to 44, 26.2% from 45 to 64, and 7.0% who are 65 years of age or older.
