Port Klang

Port Klang (in Malay Pelabuhan Klang) is the main port of Malaysia, located in the district of Klang in the state of Selangor. It serves the Klang Valley, including the federal capital Kuala Lumpur and federal administrative capital Putrajaya.
Port Klang was originally known as Port Swettenham when it was founded under British colonial rule in 1893, after the then British Resident, Sir Frank Swettenham.
Port Authority
The Port Klang Authority (http://www.pka.gov.my/), established 1 July 1963, administer the three ports in the Port Klang area: North Port, South Port and West Port. Prior to that the ports were administered by the Malayan Railway Administration.
Currently, both West Port and North Port have been privatized and managed as separate entities.West Port is managed by Westport Malaysia Berhad, and North Port by Team Northport Malaysia. Team Northport Malaysia has also acquired South Port and it is currently used a free trade zone.
Government
Datuk Zainal Md Deros (BN - UMNO) was selected in the 2004 election as representative for Pelabuhan Klang (N46) to the state assembly. He took over from Dato' Teh Chang Ying (BN - MCA) who won the seat in the 1999 election.
In terms of municipality, Port Klang comes under the jurisdiction of Klang Municipal Council.Most of Port Klang town comes under the Parliamentary Constituency of Klang, currently under YB Datin Dr. Paduka Tan Yee Kew (BN - MCA)pl:Kelang
