Plymouth (CDP), New Hampshire

Plymouth CDP is a census-designated place (CDP) within the town of Plymouth in Grafton County, New Hampshire. The U. S. census defines the CDP in order to report on the demographics of the more densely populated central settlement of the tow. As of the 2000 census, the settlement had a total population of 3,528.

Geography

The Census Bureau defines the CDP as a total area of 9.8 km² (3.8 mi²). 9.6 km² (3.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.59% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 3,528 people, 723 households, and 310 families residing in the settlement. The population density is 367.2/km² (951.3/mi²). There are 772 housing units at an average density of 80.3 persons/km² (208.2 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 96.85% White, 0.43% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.94% Asian, 0.51% from other races, and 1.19% from two or more races. 0.88% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 723 households out of which 22.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 34.0% are married couples living together, 6.9% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 57.1% are non-families. 27.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.58 and the average family size is 3.12.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 9.0% under the age of 18, 67.2% from 18 to 24, 11.4% from 25 to 44, 8.7% from 45 to 64, and 3.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 21 years. For every 100 females there are 103.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 104.0 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $36,402, and the median income for a family is $50,000. Males have a median income of $36,806 versus $22,070 for females. The per capita income for the town is $12,938. 25.5% of the population and 3.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total people living in poverty, 0.0% are under the age of 18 and 7.3% are 65 or older.
