Pilate (band)
|
Pilate are a Canadian rock band, whose melodic indie rock brought them to the Canadian pop charts in 2003.
The band consists of singer Todd Clark, guitarist Chris Greenough, bassist Ruby Bumrah and drummer Bill Keeley.
Formed in 1999 in Toronto, Ontario, the band released their debut EP, For All That's Given, Wasted in 2001. They quickly became a popular draw on the Toronto club scene. After one show, opening for the British band Alfie, a Toronto entertainment reporter wrote that "It's not too often that you catch a show where more of the audience is there to see the opening act than the main attraction."
At the 2002 NXNE festival in Toronto, Pilate were named "Best Unsigned Band".
In 2003, they released their full length debut album, Caught By the Window, on MapleMusic Recordings.
The singles "Into Your Hideout" and "Melt Into the Walls" became hits in Canada later that year.
