Pickled snakes are commonly found preserved animals in Asia, put inside alcoholic drinks such as rice wine.
The snakes, preferably venomous ones, are usually not preserved for their meat. They are preserved to have the snake poison dissolved in the rice wine. However, snake venoms are protein-based, they do not dissolve well in water and alcohol. The drinker takes the rice wine.
