Peter Bondra, #10 (#12 most of his career) was born on February 7, 1968 in Luck in the U.S.S.R., now in Ukraine. When he was 3 years old, his family moved to Poprad in Slovakia. He is currently a player with the Ottawa Senators, but has spent almost all of his NHL career with the Washington Capitals.
Over his career, he has been renowned for his exceptional skills. Over 14 years with the Capitals, he has scored over 450 career goals (placing him - at the time of this writing - at 47th on the all-time list) and has racked up almost 350 career assists. He is the highest scoring player in Capital history, and for his goal-scoring ability, he is nicknamed "Bonzai". During the 1994-1995 (with 34 in a strike-shortened season) and 1997-1998 seasons (with 52), he led the league in goals scored. In 2004, while the Capitals were enduring a disappointing season, he was traded to the Ottawa Senators for Brooks Laich and a second round draft pick.
After the 2004-2005 NHL season was canceled due to the NHL labor dispute, Bondra signed with HC SKP Poprad of the Slovakian League. When the NHL season was canceled, his official website stated that his future playing in North America looked dim because he was already 37 years old and was no longer under contract with any NHL team.
