Perez-Perry Network
|
In 1960, Rafael Perez Perry received authorization to operate WKBM TV at the time he owned one of the most successful radio stations on the island (WKBM AM). In that same year, "Telecadena Perez Perry" saw the light. It was also called "El Doble Uno" because of his slogan "El Doble Uno dominando" and because of his logo: two dominoes with one dot on each domino. The Nueva Ola musical movement was starting and lots of Alfred D'Herger's shows were aired on these stations.
Channels 9 (WSUR), 10, 22 (WJNX), and 44 (WPRV) retransmitted Perez Perry Network's signal, which included programs like Cambia Cambia, Los Rayos Gamma, Pinina, Quinceañera, La Srta.Helena, Teenagers Matinee, El 11 en Las Noticias, and many others. With Perry's death, the station had serious economic problems and went bankrupt in 1981. Later, Lorimar-Telepictures bought it and renamed it Tele Once.
