Pembroke is a town located in Giles County, Virginia. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,134.

The racial makeup of the town is 92.59% White, 6.79% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.26% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.09% from other races, and 0.18% from two or more races. 0.35% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 491 households out of which 27.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.1% are married couples living together, 11.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.4% are non-families. 31.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 15.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
