The Hai He (Template:Zh-cp), previously spelled Peiho, is a river in China which flows through Beijing and Tianjin into Bohai Gulf of the Yellow Sea. It is 1,329 km long. Its basin has an area of approximately 319,000 square kilometres (123,000 square miles). Its annual flow is only half that of the Huang He (Yellow River) or one-thirtieth that of the Yangtze River.
At Tianjin, through the Grand Canal, the Hai He connects with the Huang He and Yangtze rivers.
Like the Huang He, the Hai He is exceedingly muddy because of the powdery soil through which it flows.
