Paul Gillmor

Paul Eugene Gillmor (born February 1, 1939) is an American politician of the Republican party who serves as the U.S. representative from the fifth congressional district of Ohio (map (http://nationalatlas.gov/printable/images/preview/congdist/oh05_109.gif)).
Gillmor was born in Tiffin, Ohio and attended Old Fort High School in Old Fort, Ohio, graduating in 1957. Gillmor received a bachelor of arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University (Delaware, Ohio) in 1961 and a law degree from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, Mich.) in 1964.
Gillmor served in the U.S. Air Force from 1965 to 1966. He then entered the practice of law.
Gillmor served as an Ohio state senator from 1967 to 1988, serving as minority leader from 1978 to 1980 and from 1983 to 1984. After the Republican party won a majority in the Ohio Senate, Gillmor was elected President of the Ohio Senate and served in that office from 1981 to 1982 and from 1985 to 1988.
In 1986, Gillmor sought the Republican party's nomination for the office of governor of Ohio, but lost to former governor James A. Rhodes. In 1988, Gillmore was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and began serving in 1989 (101st Congress).
