Party metal
|
Party metal is a genre of heavy metal music influenced by pop music and overlapping with the hard rock, hair metal and classic metal genres of the 1980s.
It features lyrics celebrating drinking, rock or metal music, sex, and related topics. Notable artists include Van Halen, Queen, KISS ("Crazy Nights"), Quiet Riot ("Cum On Feel The Noize", "Metal Health", "Scream And Shout"), even some Twisted Sister ("I Wanna Rock"), and Judas Priest ("Living After Midnight", "Heading Out To The Highway," "Hot Rockin").
Many people cite Cheap Trick as a seminal influence of the genre back in the late 1970s, and others include Van Halen (especially their album 1984). Andrew WK has performed party metal in the early 2000s.
