Parole is a census-designated place located in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 14,031.
Geography
Parole is located at 38°59'30" North, 76°32'54" West (38.991657, -76.548450)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 30.7 km² (11.9 mi²). 26.6 km² (10.3 mi²) of it is land and 4.1 km² (1.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 13.25% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 14,031 people, 6,645 households, and 3,707 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 527.0/km² (1,364.4/mi²). There are 6,946 housing units at an average density of 260.9/km² (675.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 90.36% White, 6.49% African American, 0.21% Native American, 1.53% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 0.34% from other races, and 0.98% from two or more races. 1.56% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 6,645 households out of which 14.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.7% are married couples living together, 5.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 44.2% are non-families. 37.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 18.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.96 and the average family size is 2.54.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 12.2% under the age of 18, 5.8% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 27.6% from 45 to 64, and 27.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 48 years. For every 100 females there are 93.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.6 males.
