Parks Canada is a Canadian government agency whose purpose is to protect and present nationally significant examples of Canada's natural and cultural heritage and foster public understanding, appreciation and enjoyment in ways that ensure their ecological and commemorative integrity for present and future generations.
Parks Canada currently falls under the responsibility of the Minister of the Environment. Before 2003, national parks and historic sites fell under the jurisdiction of the Minister of Canadian Heritage.
